On Thursday, April 9th, Dr. Steven Bavolek, founder of the Nurturing Parenting Program, will host an open discussion at Bongo Billy’s Salida Cafe Community Room from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. The focus of the discussion will be how to enrich the lives of youth through nurturing.
Dictionary.com defines the verb, to nurture, as “to support and encourage, as during the period of training or development; foster.” What a definition for mentoring! In fact, the mission of Chaffee County Mentors is “to provide youth guidance, support, and encouragement through positive mentoring relationships.” Although Dr. Bavolek’s program focuses on parenting, the ideas behind nurturing are universal in relationships with youth. In addition, a number of families (and mentors) currently in Chaffee County Mentors have taken advantage of our local Nurturing Parenting program, taught by Jane Whitmer.
