Middle School Youth are needed as volunteers to:
Over 40 volunteers serve as mentors for youth ages 7 to 15 in our community, forming the foundation of Chaffee County Mentors and a stronghold of support for youth and families. We have 20 youth referred to our program that still need mentors. With a little time, you could make a BIG difference for a child in our community! Download a Volunteer Application.

VOLUNTEER MENTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Volunteer Adult Mentor
Position Summary: Volunteer Mentors provide a support system and companionship to Chaffee County youth. Mentors develop a relationship with the youth and act as a positive role model. Mentors share everyday activities: playing sports, watching movies, cooking, going over school work, taking walks, volunteering in the community, or just hanging out together. A Mentor can help a child discover a world of possibilities and opportunities by being a genuine friend.
Qualifications: A genuine interest in young people and a willingness to help a child grow
Requirements:
- Ability and interest in working with potentially troubled youth
- Sensitivity
- Commitment to mentorship and to the program for a minimum of one year
- At least 21 years of age
- Completion of pre-match screening and training
- Monthly phone contact with Mentor Program Staff
Hours: Three visits/outings per month with your match; hours are flexible to your personal schedule. We encourage you to attend group activities which are designed to enhance your one-on-one relationship.
Trainings: Pre-match training is required. Mentor Development Trainings are offered quarterly and Mentors are encouraged to attend at least 2 per year. Program Staff are available to handle individual concerns on an as-needed basis.

Can’t commit to mentoring but want to be involved?
BECOME A GROUP ACTIVITY VOLUNTEER!
We are all about connecting kids one-on-one with older youth and adults, so we are always in need of extra volunteers for those kids whose mentors or parents can’t join us on an activity. Volunteers are also needed to help set-up, clean-up, and provide services at activities. Volunteers complete an application, background screening, and orientation. Download a Volunteer Application.

ACTIVITY VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Activity Volunteer
Position Summary: Activity Volunteers provide a support system and companionship to local youth during Chaffee County Mentors’ activities. At group events, Activity Volunteers may help in a number of ways (based on each volunteer’s interest and availability), including: being matched for the day with wait-listed youth and mentees whose mentors cannot make it to the specific activity; supporting logistical tasks like setting and cleaning up; or helping with overall group supervision. Regardless of specific task, all Activity Volunteers support the safety of youth at activities. Some of our activities include: seeing movies, art projects, cooking, taking walks, volunteering in the community, picnics, skiing, bowlsing, and ice skating. An Activity Volunteer offers opportunities for youth who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend CCM activities.

- Complete background screening and orientation
- At least 21 years of age
- Contact before and after activities in which they participate
- Be open to learning and have a desire to support youth and families
Hours: Varies monthly
Trainings: Orientation is required. Activity Volunteers are also invited to attend mentor development opportunities.
